Hi there, my name is Olivia Wright, I am trying to get my Gold Award for Girl Scouts and I am trying to make a difference in my community, I chose to focus on the lack of Unified Sports in our area of Connecticut. Therefore, I have created this list of Unified sports in Connecticut for you so you can utilize some of the services on this pamphlet and get some exercise and have fun! I hope you use it to have some fun with other kids and play some of these Unified sports.
Connecting through activities, advocacy, and support.
Ellington Unified believes that everyone can have a sense of belonging within our community by connecting families, schools, and others through activities, advocacy, and support. Our hope is to strengthen the Ellington community for youth with disabilities & their families.
Meet the Advisor:
Jacqueline Alford
Jacqueline lives with her husband and 4 children in Ellington. She worked for New York State's Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, where she first discovered her love for helping people with all abilities. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Autism Nature Trail, located in Western New York, a first-of-its-kind experience in nature designed for visitors on the Autism spectrum. Her oldest son, Caden, was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old. Jacqueline and her husband have since been very involved in educating themselves and helping other parents/caregivers navigate the Autism world. They have seen there is a need for more inclusive events and activities for kids of all abilities. She is excited to get to know more families and help them feel comfortable and welcome at more events within the community.
